Depending on a client's estate, a simple will may be sufficient to meet the client's needs. The will provides for the distribution of assets and appoints an executor to comply with the terms of the will. The will can also name guardians for children in the event of the parents' untimely death. For estates exceeding $100,000, more sophisticated estate planning is typically required and a pour-over will is created along with a revocable (or living) trust, in order to avoid probate. Wills can always be updated and revised and we strongly encourage our clients to actively review their wills so that any necessary revisions can be made based on their situation. |
